Who I Am
My name is Anthony and I run Antomic Tech, a small web development business based in Melbourne, Australia. I build websites and web applications, and I spend a lot of my working day dealing with text: writing content, cleaning data, formatting copy for clients, and checking word counts against requirements.
WordText.tools started because I got tired of switching between different apps for basic text operations. I needed a word counter that also showed reading time. I needed a case converter that handled title case properly. I needed a way to remove duplicates from a list without opening Excel. Each of these tasks is simple on its own, but doing them across multiple tools and applications wastes time.
Why I Built This
I wanted a single site where I could handle common text tasks in my browser without installing anything, creating accounts, or paying for subscriptions. The tools needed to work on my phone as well as my desktop because I often edit content on the go. And they needed to be private, meaning all processing happens in the browser with nothing sent to a server.
Every tool on this site runs entirely in JavaScript in your browser. When you paste text into the word counter or the case converter, that text never leaves your device. There is no server-side processing, no database storing your input, and no analytics on what you type. I built it this way because I would not use a text tool that uploaded my content somewhere, and I do not expect anyone else to either.
What the Site Offers
The site currently has eleven tools covering the text operations I use most frequently: counting words and characters, converting between cases, removing duplicate lines, sorting lists, finding and replacing text, generating slugs for URLs, reversing text, removing whitespace, generating placeholder text, and checking writing for common AI patterns. Each tool does one thing and does it quickly.
The blog articles cover topics related to the tools: how to use word counts for SEO, when to use title case versus sentence case, how character limits work across social media platforms, and similar practical topics. I write from my own experience building websites and managing content. The articles link to the relevant tools where it makes sense, so you can read about a technique and then immediately use the tool to apply it.
How the Tools Work
Everything runs client-side in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. There is no backend, no API calls, and no frameworks. This keeps the tools fast and eliminates privacy concerns. The trade-off is that the tools are limited to what JavaScript can do in a browser, which excludes things like file conversion, OCR, or machine learning-based analysis. For the text operations this site covers, browser-based processing is more than sufficient.
The site is hosted in Australia and loads quickly for Australian users, though it works from anywhere. It is designed to be mobile-responsive and works on any modern browser without plugins or extensions.
